Meeting Candice Accola & Ian Somerhalder in Texas… and delivering the fan book!
If you follow the site on Twitter, you’ve probably heard that I was in fact able to meet Candice Accola and Ian Somerhalder at the Hot Topic Meet & Greet on Saturday, October 9th in Texas! It was definitely one of my best and most memorable life experiences. I’ve never actually met a person that I run a fansite for, so that in itself was incredible… but to also have the opportunity to pass on a gift? AMAZING! I wasn’t able to physically hand the fan book to Candice for security reasons (I’m guessing), but the security guard delivered it to her for me and I told her about the site and the book as she was autographing my poster.
You guys, I have to gush and say that she was ridiculously sweet and kind about everything! I couldn’t believe that she was right in front of me. I’m sure I looked like a blabbering idiot! I’m always afraid that actors/actresses will be creeped out by the idea of having sites dedicated to them, but she was VERY nice about everything, so hopefully she doesn’t mind that much. Oh and it has been confirmed by someone from the CW that Candice DID receive the book, so rest assured! Your messages were delivered! :)
Here are the pictures that my sister and I managed to take at the event! I hate tagging, but since these are my personal photos, I’ve added only the site’s Twitter url to every picture in as subtle manner as I could. Enjoy them! I also took pictures of the scrapbook in case you guys were curious about how it turned out!
Maddie’s Pictures from the Hot Topic Meet & Greet in Texas (10/9/10)
In total, I compiled well over 100 messages that were submitted in under a week’s time… I am still shocked at how great everything turned out! The biggest thank you goes out to the following people for making this experience possible:
My mom who helped me mucho as I put the scrapbook together, my sister who took a bunch of the Q & A pictures because I was too short and who spent all day with me at the event, and the AMAZING Mary Ann (@mak75231) for letting me jump the line with her and for talking to every security person in charge so that I was sure to get Candice the scrapbook.
I need to specifically say thanks to Ashley of Lymenaide who managed to motivate so many people of the Lyme community to send in their messages regarding Candice’s involvement with Lyme disease awareness. That section was by far the most influential and inspiring part of the book to put together.
Lastly, the following sites/Twitter users, some of which promoted the project like CRAZY: @lymenaide, @tvdfansonline, @tvdnews, @IHeartTVD, @Snowballx, @KatGCanada, @xVampDiariesx, @TVDNL, @TVD_Chloe, @NinaDobrevSRB
There is no way to keep track of everyone, but I do want to thank each and every person that took the time to promote the project on another fansite/blog, mentioned the project on Twitter, etc. This wouldn’t have been what it was without all of you! I sincerely appreciate your help! Thank you so much!
