The other day, we posted a scan from TV Guide Magazine which named Caroline Forbes their ‘Hot New Sucker’ – well, they’ve also posted the interview on their actual site. So, in case you missed it before, you can now read up what she has to say about Caroline’s vampire transformation! Check out a few highlights below, but read the full interview at the source.
The Vampire Diaries‘ Caroline Forbes is blonde, beautiful and a hoot to watch as she navigates through teen life as a newly turned bloodsucker. Candice Accola, who plays the undead beauty queen, explains it all for us.
TV Guide Magazine: Why is Caroline more likable as a vampire?
Accola: Caroline started out as a narcissistic, queen-bee bitch. What’s so much fun is that in vampire form, she’s trying to figure it all out. If she gives in to her own selfish needs as a vampire, people die.
TV Guide Magazine: Sort of a vamp coming-of-age story?
Accola: [Laughs] She’s grown up a lot since she’s been undead. It’s exciting to hear girls say, “I love that Caroline’s kicking butt now!”

The New York Post has shared an interview with Candice Accola that was actually posted this past week. Check out a blurb below, but make sure to head on over to their website to read the full article!
Candice Accola: It’s pretty boring when everybody lives happily ever after
Not since Francie’s evolution to The Francinator during the second season of “Alias” has an actor been asked to take their character on such a 180 degree journey. Thankfully for “Vampire Diaries” fans, making Caroline Forbes a vampire hasn’t also turned her into a horrible she-beast that must be destroyed.
It has instead taken a supporting character of medium interest and sent her skyrocketing in importance, involvement and intrigue. A development actress Candice Accola has welcomed with equal amounts of appreciation and fear.
I rang up the actress following an ovation worthy couple of episodes to talk about tackling the undead obstacle head on, why she’s able to closely identify with her character’s dilemma and what the future holds for Caroline … and Candice.
PopWrap: First off, you have been killing it this season.
Candice Accola: Oh thank you so much. It’s always been exciting to wake up and go to work. In this business it’s also just exciting to have a job [laughs] and one that you enjoy. But to be presented with new challenges one season in is just a joy – there is not enough thanks or praise I can give to the writers for this wonderful opportunity!
PW: One of Caroline’s biggest sacrifices was dumping Matt — will she be able to stay away from him?
Candice: In real life, especially when you’re young, you find yourself wanting to be in a relationship but not being fully able to give yourself to that yet. And I think that’s what Caroline is facing – emotionally she wants him, to be loved. But in her heart she’s realizing that she has to work on herself first. I’m excited to see if she gives in or holds back just like the audience is.

The Toronto Sun interviewed Candice about the many different aspects of Caroline Forbes on The Vampire Diaries. Here is an excerpt:
But Caroline is integral to The Vampire Diaries not only for her emotional humanity, but also for her physical humanity.
“Especially with all the supernatural elements of the show, my interpretation of what the writers did with Caroline was to give the audience someone to relate to in a very human way,” Accola said.
“So I don’t know what the writers initially intended, but it was lovely to go on that journey. And it definitely reminded me of my own experiences as a high schooler, foot in mouth, not knowing who you are and trying to be someone. You know everything that you don’t want, but it’s hard to find what you do want. Even as a young woman in my 20s, there’s a lot of relatability to that.”

Candice and her co-star Steven R. McQueen were interviewed by E! Online – check out what they had to say about The Vampire Diaries below!
Enough with that pesky Edward Cullen and his family-friendly vampire brood! There’s no denying that The CW’s The Vampire Diaries grabbed a good portion of the bloodsucking market this season, and the whole cast is coming back for in the second round!
And, trust, we know that plenty of you are into the fangy fun of it, too.
The hot vamp show stars the adorable Nina Dobrev, bad-boy Paul Wesley and Lost alum Ian Somerhalder in a ferocious mix of teen melodrama and supernatural fantasy. But what really goes down behind the scenes on the sweaty, steamy set in Atlanta, Georgia?
We recently caught up with stars Candice Accola and Steven R. McQueen, who play ex-mega-bitch Caroline and screwed-up outsider Jeremy, and wrenched a few droplets of bloody cast dish from them:
They still get starstruck.
Accola’s intimidated by iconic women, none more so than Diane Keaton. “I had the opportunity to meet her on the way to the pilot,” she says. “She sat behind Kayla [Ewell] and I on the airplane. I was all ready to say, ‘You are an inspiration to young women everywhere!’ and all that came out was, ‘You are, like, awesome!’ Ha. That’s how suave I get.”
They like other vampires.
“I’ve been on a True Blood kick,” says Accola, who also plans to see Eclipse when she and the other girls reconvene in Atlanta in July to begin filming. “Definitely by the time we get back.”
Meanwhile, McQueen is a fervent Team Edward supporter.
“Vampires are just cool, you know?” he says, adding. “They just have some sort of rebel authority that’s kind of cool.”
They’re humble.
Like many young stars today, they remember where they come from.
“I was working in an ice rink before all this,” laughs McQueen. “Work became not only a gift, but therapeutic as well…the entire experience has been a blessing.” Accola agrees. “It’s amazing,” she says. “It’s just wonderful that everyone’s enjoying watching it as much as we are making it.”
They cause trouble on set.
“We’re constantly doing pranks, most of which I can’t talk about ’cause they’re kind of, you know, mum’s the word sort of things,” says McQueen.
Accola’s adds: “We don’t really joke around too much because it’s a lot to do in a little amount of time, but biggest troublemaker? Nina, for sure. She’s the sneakiest.”
They kinda, sorta, don’t really, or do they, hook up.
Both kids braced the question of on-set romance with enough hesitation and nervous laughter to make us double-take.
“I’m sure by the end of all these seasons, everyone’s gonna say that we’ve all dated each other,” says Accola. When asked about Nina and Ian’s rumored romance, McQueen said, “I wish I knew.” When asked about Nina and himself, he said, “I wish I knew.”
Hmm. Wish we did, too.

Candice recently took part in a great interview with The Global Town Hall. Read it below!
Candice Accola, the porcelain skin beauty, stars as Caroline Forbes in the hit series “Vampires Diaries.” She includes backup singer for Hannah Montana’s movie and tour among the list of her credits. Not only beautiful, fun and talented, Candice also has some intelligent advice for us.
It is my pleasure to welcome Candice Accola to The Global Townhall.
Gabrielle Reilly: What is one of your favorite life philosophies that may inspire our readers?
Candice Accola: No doesn’t mean never, it just means not yet. Visualize what you want to accomplish and work like hell to get it.
Gabrielle Reilly: What advice can you offer for building such a successful career?
Candice Accola: Know what you want. Don’t compare your accomplishments or failures to your competition and know that careers are built differently for everyone.
Gabrielle Reilly: Who is your role model?
Candice Accola: My parents. Their tenacity at life, love, and work constantly inspires me.
Gabrielle Reilly: How do you balance your life, look so good AND do “Vampires Diaries?”
Candice Accola: I do my best to look at the bigger picture and not sweat the small stuff. I make it a point to have alone time. I value that some of life’s best moments happen over a meal with your family or a glass of wine with your friends. And when life seems like a lot to bear, I dance around like a kid until I laugh.
Gabrielle Reilly: What does your weekly fitness routine look like?
Candice Accola: I’ve just started training with Mike Alexander in Los Angeles and he has me doing a lot of resistance training along with high reps paired with low weight. His routines keep my heart rate up so I feel the cardio impact of the weight training as well. Back in Atlanta, Katerina introduced me to a dance studio that offers great classes that I’m looking forward to getting back to.
Gabrielle Reilly: What does your diet look like throughout the year?
Candice Accola: A few constants in my diet are oatmeal, non-fat greek yogurt, hummus, turkey and some form of mixed greens. Those things are always in my kitchen. Otherwise my diet varies according to the season. I make it a point to try new foods at new restaurants and Atlanta has an amazing restaurant scene! I love going to places where substitutions aren’t allowed. When all the components of the dish are on the plate for a reason. It’s important to watch what you eat but you have to enjoy exploring your palate as well! It’s all about balance.
Gabrielle Reilly: What are your favorite beauty tips?
Candice Accola: Take your make-up off every night! Also, less is more. It doesn’t matter how much cover-up you have on your face, which designer made your dress, or if your shoes are in season; feeling beautiful starts from the inside and shines out. As cheesy and gag worthy as that sounds, we all know it’s true :-)
Gabrielle Reilly: What color do you prefer your hair?
Candice Accola: Red Heads have more fun but I always felt like I was wearing a wig. I feel most like myself as a blonde.
Gabrielle Reilly: What do you do in your free time?
Candice Accola: Most of my free time is spent furnishing my new apartment in Georgia; especially searching for albums to feed my new found record collecting addiction. I can’t seem to get enough LPs! I’ve also been singing with an 80′s cover band that our crew guys put together for the wrap party and hope we keep it up for season two!
Gabrielle Reilly: What has been your favorite career highlight?
Candice Accola: I could not be more grateful for the opportunities I’ve come across in my career thus far so it’s hard to choose just one. Top Three would be: telling my parents I got a record deal, running out on stage and being hit with the scream of 18,000 people every night on the Miley Cyrus tour, and of course, hearing the news that The Vampire Diaries was being picked up for a second season.
Gabrielle Reilly: You have become very passionate about Turn the Corner Foundation. Can you tell us about that?
Candice Accola: A very dear childhood friend got very sick and after years of frustration and misdiagnosis, she found out she had Lyme disease. I’m embarrassed to say I’d never heard of Lyme and after hearing it’s conceived from a tick bite I thought it’d be an easy treatment process. Boy was I wrong! When I think of all the components of this complex disease, the treatments and the political separation within the medical community revolving around Lyme, I am still shocked.
I decided that I had to help. I couldn’t sit idly by and hear any more gut wrenching stories of individuals, couples and families who’d been misdiagnosed and thus treated for the wrong disease in the same fashion my friend and her family were misled.
My friend’s mother introduced me to Turn the Corner. I was so impressed with their documentary, Under Our Skin and their Physicians Training Program that I knew I had found a great organization to lend my voice to. It’s a new partnership, but I could not be more excited to be working with them in order to increase awareness and continue my own education on Lyme.
